This is my first attempt at a selfie, taken in the mid-60's.

     My interest in photography started in the mid-70's, I recieved a Canon FTb from my father. The lenses it came with we'er a 50mm, a mid range zoom and a macro, so i had many options as a begining photographer.

     I started taking photo classes when they were offered, and it became clear very soon that i loved the camera, what i saw thru the lens, and it came very easy to me. For the first time in my life i had something i was naturally good at, and i loved everything about it, plus i saw things that nobody eles saw.

     In the early 80's i spent most of my time in darkrooms and shooting many, many hours of video. My first real, job was a free lance videogrpaher, working for a few producers in Mpls, shooting corprate videos. Great experiance, but the most boring thing you can shoot. But i was getting paid for looking thru a veiw finder, which i thought would never happen, While i was stuck in a studio shooting talking heads and demantrating different electronics of the time, i was getting experiance! 

     Now i could start applying for video jobs. I sent many resumes to many production houses and TV stations. Finally i had a interveiw at a TV station in Mason City IA, i would direct the noon news and shoot, edit and produce local commercials, woohoo! While all this was happening, i still had time to shoot stills.
